Oedipe: a Visual History
EXHIBITION: 4 May – 8 June; Clore Studio Upstairs at the Royal Opera House and the Romanian Cultural Institute

Since Oedipe's debut in 1936, Enescu's masterpiece has been performed on renowned musical stages throughout the world. Great singers like David Ohanesian, José Van Dam or Monte Pederson have shone in the notoriously challenging title role. Through a kaleidoscope of rarely seen photographs and reproductions, The 'George Enescu' National Museum's exhibition traces the opera's sinuous fate from its long gestation and rapturous premiere to relative post-war neglect and eventual rediscovery. Curated by musicologist Cristina Andrei, Director of the George Enescu National Museum in Bucharest.
Free entry. At the Royal Opera House, the exhibition is only available to ticket holders of the Insight event.
