PUBLIC HEARING - 7 September 2017 - Brussels

The role of civil society in the prevention of radicalisation of young people

The European Economic and Social Committee has the pleasure to invite you to its conference on "The role of civil society in the prevention of radicalisation of young people".

The event will serve to clarify what can be done to render more effective existing civil society initiatives aiming to prevent radicalisation. It will therefore focus on questions such as "what can be done at EU level to improve the working conditions of practitioners in the field?", "how can existing structures be strengthened?", and "which good practices could be replicated elsewhere?". The first panel will cover different elements of anti-radicalisation policy, always focusing on what is needed to increase success rates. The second panel will focus on education. The key questions all panellists will be asked to answer is "what goes well?" and "what can be done better and how?".

Speakers will include representatives from the European Commission, the city of Vilvoorde, academia, the education sector and civil society organisations.

Wimbledon Art Studios' artists collaborate to raise money for the Khadija Saye Memorial Fund

Combining their artistic talents, emerging artists Harriet Hoult, Ariadna Dane and Alice Neave (pictured above), are creating a collaborative piece (or two) which will be auctioned to raise money for the Khadija Saye Memorial Fund

Khadija Saye, an artist who's career was just taking off, was tragically killed in the Grenfell Tower fire last month. Friends have set up the fund in her memory to support creativity in young people. The money raised for this fund will go towards study, informal training, internships or mentoring those whose background and circumstances might not necessarily grant them access to such support.

Keep up to date with their story on Tuesday 4th July, by following @wimbledon_art_studios on Instagram, as they host an inspirational Insta-takeover. Materials for this event are being kindly supplied by CASS Art
