UK Premiere: Valentin Hotea's 'Roxanne' at the Romanian Cinematheque | ICR London, 29 Apr, 7pm

ICR London cordially invites you to the UK premiere of
Enescu Concerts Season, May Concert

Roxanne

Tuesday 29 April, 7pm | free entry
at ICR London, 1 Belgrave Square
The next film to be screened at the Romanian Cinematheque is Vali Hotea's Roxanne, one of the most unconventional attempts by a Romanian director to deal with the communist dictatorship and its lingering aftermath.

Set in the city of Bucharest 20 years after the Romanian Revolution, Roxanne tells the story of Tavi Ionescu, a nice but quite immature guy for his late 30s, who finds out from his Securitate (Secret Police) file that he might be the father of an unknown son. Starting his own investigation, Tavi is caught up in a complicated past that now comes to reveal ugly hidden truths, messing up his life and the lives of the ones close to him. For the first time, he is forced to make some really mature decisions.

International Film Festivals: Locarno, Sofia, Dublin, Cottbus, Anonimul.
Another masterpiece from the new Romanian wave! (Christian Jungen, NZZ am Sonntag, Switzerland)

Fwd: FW: Learn a Trade, get a CSCS card and employment on building sites

Hi all,

I have attached a list of short courses (under 16 hours per week) designed to support people back to work. These courses are free and are based in Acton and Barons Court campuses.

There is also an opportunity suitable for anyone who is interested in construction - please contact the Project Manager directly on stuart.allen@cwc.ac.uk with any inquiries/referrals.

Opportunity:                     Construction training, CSCS card with good likelihood of employment

Timing:                                 8 week course, 9:30am – 3pm Thursday and Friday

Location:                             City of Westminster College, the Queens Park Centre, Saltram Crescent, W9 3HW (10 minutes walk from Westbourne Park underground station)

Referral process:             Email me and I will meet with the client and book them a visit to the project (rolling recruitment).

Restrictions:                      Not open to clients on replacement medication

Westminster College have an excellent opportunity for clients interested in construction, or learning a trade. It's two days a week practical training (plastering, building stud walls, tiling, etc.) in a very supportive environment, and it's open to anyone who is willing to learn – there's no requirement to have previous experience. Clients get a CSCS card as well as learning valuable skills. The only restriction is that clients cannot be on opiate replacement medication and cannot be intoxicated while in the workshop – this is for safety reasons.

Once people graduate from the course there is an opportunity for paid site work with a social enterprise that works in partnership with the construction project – most graduates go on to find work.

The campus is 10 minutes walk from Westbourne Park station so it is easy to reach from Hammersmith / Shepherds Bush / Goldhawk Road on the Hammersmith and City Line. Travel is paid – £5 per day – and the man who runs it is a really good teacher and has a very supportive approach.

The project is closed for the next 2 weeks so interested people can sign up after Easter.

Kind regards,

Heather
