NICOLAE MANOLESCU

Nicolae Manolescu (b.1939), the undisputed patriarch of Romanian literature, is a critic, professor and publisher, who in a career spanning more than 50 years has authored some of the most influential books of literary criticism and literary history in postwar Romania. Not shy of public office, Professor Manolescu is the president of the Romanian Writers Union, member of the Romanian Academy and Ambassador to UNESCO.

TREI PARALE

Engaged for more than 10 years in a passionate effort to revive Romanian court and urban music of the 18th and early 19th centuries, Trei Parale, a group of versatile musicians playing old instruments, has succeeded in rescuing some of the juiciest scores of this forgotten, yet marvellous, tradition. Trei Parale was formed in 2003 and is made of Florin Iordan – kobsa, pipes
Daniel-Mircea Pop – voice, pipes
Mihai Balabaș – violin
Dinu-Traian Petrescu – percussion
THE ALLURE OF TYPOGRAPHY

Despite technological advances, books remain as refined an object as ever and no less desirable. To prove that exquisite typography is thriving, our exhibition will showcase the most beautifully designed Romanian books of 2013, curated by the Association for Performance and Culture in collaboration with the Romanian Cultural Institute in London. Introduced by Mihai Mitricã, the Executive Director of Romanian Federation of Publishers, and Adina Pasca, the exhibition's curator
