"European employers discuss the Euro zone after the European Summit of October 23, 2011"

 

 

 

The Employers' Group of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) will hold a round table on 26 October 2011 between 11:30 and 13:OO (JDE building, 99 rue Belliard, Brussels) on  the topic "Solutions to strengthen the European Union and the Euro zone". The aim of the discussion is to assess the conclusions of the EU summit and contribute to the debate from political, economic and monetary standpoints.

 

The round table, which will be introduced by Mr. Henri Malosse, President of the EESC Employers' Group and moderated by Mr. Van Iersel, Chairman of the Europe 2020 Steering Committee and member of Group I, will address the following key points:

 

 - Evaluating the decisions of the EU summit

 - Discussing the consequences of those decisions

 - Proposing a strong governance of the Euro zone

 

Mr. Benoît de la Chapelle Bizot, Minister Counsellor for Economic, Financial and Monetary Affairs at the Permanent Representation of France to the EU, will present the conclusions of the European Council of 23 October and Professor Bernard Barthalay, Jean Monnet Chair of European integration (Université Lumière Lyon 2) and President of the think tank Puissance Europe, will present his solutions to the crisis and discuss with members of Group I, especially ones from Ireland, Germany and Greece.
