Elevi britanici au reprezentat România la exerciţiul de simulare al Consiliului UE

Ambasada României – Londra/ La 16 noiembrie 2010, în cadrul manifestărilor dedicate Săptămânii educaţiei internaţionale, un grup de elevi britanci au reprezentat România la un exerciţiu de simulare a Consiliului UE, găzduit de Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

Începând cu 2008, acest exerciţiu se derulează anual fiind organizat de British Council în parteneriat cu FCO. Elevii britanici au avut oportunitatea de a primi sprijinul oferit de Ambasada României la Londra pentru a reprezenta şi răspunde cu succes provocărilor exerciţiului.

Anul acesta, temele de pe agenda exerciţiului de simulare au fost integrarea socială şi economică a populaţiei roma şi securitatea rezervelor de energie ale UE.

David Lidington, ministrul britanic pentru Europa a declarat: „exerciţiul reprezintă un mod excelent de a arăta tinerilor cum sunt adoptate deciziile importante la nivel european”.

Elevii provin de la liceul cu profil ingineresc Cordeaux (regiunea Lincolnshire) care este partener cu şcoala cu clasele I-VIII Biertan (România), în cadrul unui proiect Comenius.

British students represented Romania in a mock EU Council

Embassy of Romania – London/ On 16 November 2010, during International Education Week, a group of British Students represented Romania in a mock EU Council hosted by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

Beginning with 2008, the Mock Council is organized annually by the British Council with the support of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Students were able to research the country beforehand with the help of the Embassy of Romania in London, in order to develop their position on how best to respond to the exercise.
On the agenda of the simulation exercise were the inclusion of Roma communities within European countries and securing Europe's energy supply. The Embassy of Romania in London has helped the team prepare their positions, in order to best reflect Romania's views on the matters debated.

David Lidington, the British Europe Minister, said that it is "an excellent way to show young people how the big decisions are made at European level".

The students who represented Romania are from Cordeaux School (Lincolnshire), a specialist college of engineering having a partnership with Biertan High school in Romania for the EU’s Comenius programme.
