Angels, Adolescents and Trucks: New Romanian Books in English
One of the enduring ways by which the Romanian monarchs have expressed their stature and attachment to their realm was by erecting impressive edifices that have forever impacted Romania's built environment. Iconic and majestic, these beautiful constructions remain, to this day, a testament of greatness and good taste.
The opening of the exhibition 'Architecture and Royalty', followed by the projection of the documentary 'Royal Residences in Romania'   (narrated by academician Răzvan Theodorescu) and a conversation with professors Augustin Ioan and Marius Marcu-Lapadat offer a thorough exploration of the architectural masterpieces created under the aegis of the Romanian Royal Family.

INVITATION

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC)
is pleased to invite you at its

Public hearing on the :

Application of State Aid Rules for Compensating the Provision of Services of General Economic Interest

10 May 2017
from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
at the headquarters of the EESC,
2 rue Van Maerlant - 1040 Brussels,
Room VMA 3

The main objective of the hearing is to brainstorm on the challenges and opportunities arising from the current State Aid rules for services of general economic interest (SGEI).

The EESC will issue an own-initiative opinion on the Application of the Decision on public compensation for the provision of services of general economic interest (2012/21/UE) with the aim of contributing to the upcoming Commission review and analysing the implementation of the SGEI package.

To this end, the EESC has commissioned a study on the application of SGEI rules to public compensation. Stakeholders at regional and local level, in particular publicly owned SGEI providers, have voiced serious concerns on key issues that create undue obstacles or lack of legal certainty.

Furthermore, the Member States' reports do not tackle the essential issue of compatibility requirements, a matter dealt with in depth by the Communication from the Commission on the EU Framework for State aid in the form of public service compensation.

All these elements, together with the main conclusions and findings of the study, shall be thoroughly discussed during the hearing by high-level speakers from different institutions and social organisations with stakeholders across the European Union.

Interpretation will be provided from ES/DE/EN/FR/NL into ES/DE/EN/FR/NL

For updates and news please consult the event page.

There is no charge for participation. However due to the limited capacity of the meeting room registration is on a first come, first served basis. Please also note that an valid piece of identification must be presented upon arrival.

Should you have further queries, please send an e-mail to SGEI-STATEAID-2017

INVITATION

2 rue Van Maerlant - 1040 Brussels,
Salle VMA 3
