The objectives of the Society are :

1. To provide social opportunity for Romanian people based in London and surrounding area for meeting’s, Social and cultural events

6. The development of a range of needs led services, to improve the quality of life
Romanian community members.

EXISTING PROJECTS AND FUTURE PLANING :

1. Training and Personal Development :

According with different sources there are more and more Romanians coming in to the UK , and recently I have been taking part at 4th Central & Eastern European Forum were different organizations have confirmed for us this matter.
Many of Romanians are coming with big hopes in finding jobs as the restriction for work for A2 natioanals are maintained for next 2 years.
Other important barrier, is the language.

- so far our organization has tried to its best to direct these sort of people , but due to the lack of space , personnel and funds we can not keep up with this demanding .
- for the future we are aiming to have places of our own were we can provide drop in sessions with properly train / competent personnel trained from the community therefore creating jobs
- as well to provide at our branches ESOL courses , opportunity for Romanians to
socialize, eliminate the language barrier to access work and social integration.
- other trainings needed that are demanded, we want to be offered at our premises by encourage people of different age’s , backgrounds, genders and religion.

2. Romanca Newsletter – promoting the events, activities and projects of the society, networking the information for members, friends and other interested parties.

- we are interested in spreading important news /information/ events to post them on the web site , that are affecting people’s life in the UK, starting from Banks, How to rent, Rent Low , rights and obligations , information from the police and other stakeholders and day to day facts that are affecting people’s life .
- if we get help and succeed we want to print our newsletter to reach to those who do not have access to internet

3. Partnership and lobby - developing quality relationships, lobby and cooperation with various organizations, institutions and agencies in the local, regional and international community,

- in order to have a successful and quiet life we want to open ourselves to London multicultural society , we want people to know us , not only as the cleaning lady or the handy man from the construction site ,
- we want to show to the communities we are living in , to the government and third sector organizations who are helping us , that we want to actively and actively participate to the country developing and well being .
- we want to have meetings, festivities, cultural events together, to volunteer ourselves were the community and country need us .

4. Fundraising and sponsorship - research for finding financial resources and support for all Romanca's projects and partners :

- if everything has started for an small desk in a modest house 5 years ago, by a big heart, caring lady ;
- now we want to fulfill people needs , the ones that usually society in the rush of the everyday are somehow forgotten ,
- Us, few who we care we are tired and frustrated telling people that we do not have enough time to solve their problems, that we do not have a place where our children can play Sunday and learn songs of their grandparents, that I will solve the problems within the society resources

YES – we need some money to start a few working points !
YES – we need to train people to deal with problems ,crime or whatever challenge or opportunity the society deals every day,…
YES – we want to enjoy our time , decently
YES – we want to be treated fair within our community and our community involvement
YES – we want to tell to our Community members that we are an independent organization what respect both the values of individuals and that this can be beneficial integrated within the values of British society,
YES – I want the truth about the job conditions, how life is going to be , not the nice stories which the recruiting agencies are so nicely selling to us
YES – we don’t want to run out of options due to lack of information or
support and become a criminal .
YES – we want to help the society we are living in by giving back not only our tax returns but also our involvement with ,
- money when we are united
- blood donations or cause we care for
- voluntary work to learn and develop projects that are addressing the society needs

YES we care and YES we want !
Help us to help each other !

5. Protocol & Catering - ensure the protocol & catering in various project of the organisation, being runned by volunteers and members

-in our language that’s mean that we want to cook Romanian dishes for us and for our friends from outside of community , for our guests for different events or people who want to enjoy our way of cooking , opportunity for younger generations to enjoy and prove themselves in this art and somehow trying to get them away as much of possible from the fast foods and promoting a healthier and why not a cheaper way to eat
-this is part of our heritage and a way to promote our values and hospitality.

6. Art Group – workshop, performances and shows with artists

-we have many young women and men who are passionate about glass painting, icons painting , and we try to bring this to a new level by offer them a proper place to develop their skills
- there artists and students in London looking for opportunity to perform and practice their art .We are looking to promote a monthly show with this artists in a popular venues as a way of preserving and promoting our artistic values
- as well we want to bring performers from Romania, to enjoy Romanian dance and music ,
- there are so many things to write at this chapter as well but I will say a common truth “ ART IS FOOD FOR THE SOUL ! “

7. Literary Club – workshop, performances, presentations, talks and shows

- we encourage members of the community to express artistically by holding talks & meetings with writers, critics and public
- we like to make this events more often and to build our network of libraries in order to be accessed by the members of Romanian Community

8. Romanian Day - the project have started by the initial group of volunteers in 2003, as a Romanian Day in Fulham and Hammersmith Festival. Since then the Festival have offered 4 successive editions, with various partners .

-we want to be able to celebrate each year the Romanian day to celebrate our identity and to be able to share with our friends from the community!
- this is a way to promote the values of our culture in the multicultural British society
- a way to show our children the heritage and to make sure they grow up knowing their identity in order to be able to respect other people identity .

9. Mentor project – promotes the development of young generation under the guidance
of specialists with experience and authority in various fields , promoting developing skills in the practical aspect.

- we offer to our volunteers our support by motivating them to develop their own projects.
-a small but experienced team of mentors are able to advise and support all the way to implement and valorize the projects at the choice of the volunteer
-a individual mentoring plan is design to answer to the need of development for each volunteer that need this support

Much more about us and what we are keen to do, you can find on our web site : www.romanca.co.uk .

IN MEMORIAM MIHAI EMINESCU SI GRIGORE VIERU

Bustul poetului Grigore Vieru de la Alba Iulia

In limba ta

În aceeasi limba
Toata lumea plange,
In aceeasi limba
Rade un pamant.
Ci doar in limba ta
Durerea poti s-o mangai,
Iar bucuria
S-o preschimbi in cant.

In limba ta
Ti-e dor de mama,
Si vinul e mai vin,
Si pranzul e mai pranz.
Si doar in limba ta
Poti rade singur,
Si doar in limba ta
Te poti opri din plans.

Iar cand nu poti
Nici plange si nici rade,
Cand nu poti mangaia
Si nici canta,
Cu-al tau pamant,
Cu cerul tau in fata,
Tu taci atuncea
Tot in limba ta.

In memoriam Mihai Eminescu

Glossă

Vreme trece, vreme vine,
Toate-s vechi şi nouă toate;
Ce e rău şi ce e bine
Tu te-ntreabă şi socoate;
Nu spera şi nu ai teamă,
Ce e val ca valul trece;
De te-ndeamnă, de te cheamă,
Tu rămâi la toate rece.

Multe trec pe dinainte,
În auz ne sună multe,
Cine ţine toate minte
Şi ar sta să le asculte?...
Tu aşează-te deoparte,
Regăsindu-te pe tine,
Când cu zgomote deşarte
Vreme trece, vreme vine.

Nici încline a ei limbă
Recea cumpăn-a gândirii
Înspre clipa ce se schimbă
Pentru masca fericirii,
Ce din moartea ei se naşte
Şi o clipă ţine poate;
Pentru cine o cunoaşte
Toate-s vechi şi nouă toate.

Privitor ca la teatru
Tu în lume să te-nchipui:
Joace unul şi pe patru,
Totuşi tu ghici-vei chipu-i,
Şi de plânge, de se ceartă,
Tu în colţ petreci în tine
Şi-nţelegi din a lor artă
Ce e rău şi ce e bine.

Viitorul şi trecutul
Sunt a filei două feţe,
Vede-n capăt începutul
Cine ştie să le-nveţe;
Tot ce-a fost ori o să fie
În prezent le-avem pe toate,
Dar de-a lor zădărnicie
Te întreabă şi socoate.

Căci aceloraşi mijloace
Se supun câte există,
Şi de mii de ani încoace
Lumea-i veselă şi tristă;
Alte măşti, aceeaşi piesă,
Alte guri, aceeaşi gamă,
Amăgit atât de-adese
Nu spera şi nu ai teamă.

Nu spera când vezi mişeii
La izbândă făcând punte,
Te-or întrece nătărăii,
De ai fi cu stea în frunte;
Teamă n-ai, căta-vor iarăşi
Între dânşii să se plece,
Nu te prinde lor tovarăş:
Ce e val, ca valul trece.

Cu un cântec de sirenă,
Lumea-ntinde lucii mreje;
Ca să schimbe-actorii-n scenă,
Te momeşte în vârteje;
Tu pe-alături te strecoară,
Nu băga nici chiar de seamă,
Din cărarea ta afară
De te-ndeamnă, de te cheamă.

De te-ating, să feri în laturi,
De hulesc, să taci din gură;
Ce mai vrei cu-a tale sfaturi,
Dacă ştii a lor măsură;
Zică toţi ce vor să zică,
Treacă-n lume cine-o trece;
Ca să nu-ndrăgeşti nimică,
Tu rămâi la toate rece.

Tu rămâi la toate rece,
De te-ndeamnă, de te cheamă;
Ce e val, ca valul trece,
Nu spera şi nu ai teamă;
Te întreabă şi socoate
Ce e rău şi ce e bine;
Toate-s vechi şi nouă toate:
Vreme trece, vreme vine.

Andrei, in asteptarea zilei aniversare de 1 Decembrie .

O deosebita placere a fost microrecitalul sopranei Elena Dumitriu si colinda Carolinei Ilinca..

Intilnirea priviriilor

de Ionela Flood

Privira ta
un tarm serpuind
pe dantela apelor

Se zbenguie
mirata
de mireazma florilor

Privirea ta
inmuiata
in soare

Aluneca soapte

Doamne ajuta!

de Ionela Flood

Plutirea nostra se invirte-n ceruri
Clepsidra rasucita prin raspintii
Strafulgerate aripi cresc instantaneu
Pe slova picurind in Curcubeu

In falduri valul se destrama

cu umilinta in mina stinga
si cartea vietii in peceti

Mihai Viteazul ne-a dat mina
caci ne asteapta in fiecare an
sa daruiasaca unitatea
acelora de-acelasi neam.

Cu Eminescu am pasit sfiosi printre cuvinte
Si am jurat credinta Limbii Romanesti
Cu stema si cu roade de speranta
la poarta Catedralei Stramosesti

Eternitatea se-nvirte-n cercuri
cu nemurirea noastra prinsa pe drapel
curgind pe vai, peste Carpati, si mari
Coloana Infinita pe-un picior de plai.

The CD launch ‘Constantin Silvestri- A Bournemouth Love Affair’, London 2009

****************************************************************************************************

On 19th October 2009 the new independent record company Romanian Musical Adventure (RMA) has released a double CD set of digitally re-mastered, unique BBC recordings of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of legendary Romanian conductor and composer Constantin Silvestri, to commemorate his death in London 40 years ago. This is the first RMA project and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is the only British orchestra that has ever recorded works by George Enescu.

http://www.romanianmusicaladventure.org/

‘Constantin Silvestri - A Bournemouth Love Affair’

The double CD contains major works by George Enescu (Symphony No. 1 and Orchestral Suites Nos. 1 and 2) conducted by Silvestri with the Bournemouth Symphony and a unique gem, Silvestri conducting his own work, Three Pieces for Strings. The discs also contain The Magic Flute Overture and Symphony No. 29 by Mozart, Slavonic Dances by Dvorak and Symphony No. 1 by Prokofiev.

The new record label – the RMA - is the brainchild of Romanian-born concert pianist, Anda Anastasescu who wants to promote worldwide Romanian composers.

‘When I produced the first-ever London festival celebrating Romanian composers in 2005, I discovered an extraordinary wealth of compositions that are virtually unknown outside of Romania and rarely performed. I decided to set up the RMA to bring these outstanding works to the wider world. The fact that we have these recordings at all is a miracle. Recorded by the BBC in the 1960s the original masters were lost. What we are presenting on CD today are Silvestri’s personal copies he himself made from various BBC Radio broadcasts over the years’.

This Double CD is a special gift to Romania and Romanian people, and pays homage to two giants in the history of Romanian Classical Music. The CD set can be bought online at http://www.romanianmusicaladventure.org/

Notes to editors:

The RMA is a newly established, independent classical record label set up to record outstanding works by Romanian composers, new and lesser-known repertoire and well-known repertoire interpreted in a new light.

Constantin Silvestri was Principal Conductor of the Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Radio Symphony Orchestra and of the Romanian National Opera. He left Romania in 1958 and in 1961 became Principal Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. During the following eight years the orchestra won its fame and Silvestri’s reputation (he has been compared to Von Karajan and Barbirolli) was approaching its peak when he died from cancer in 1969 aged just 55.

Concert pianist Anda Anastasescu’s performances across the world have been consistently praised for their passion, artistry and imagination. An International Debussy Competition winner, she has performed extensively with orchestras in Europe, the USA and Asia, and toured with her own orchestra, The London Schubert Players. Anda has given a number of first UK performances of works by Constantin Silvestri, Dinu Lipatti and George Enescu, and produced A Romanian Musical Adventure - the first London festival of Romanian composers, November 2005 – February 2006 .

Lansarea albumului „Constantin Silvestri -A Bournemouth Love Affair ’’

***************************************************************************************

"Constantin Silvestri - A Bournemouth Love Affair"

Note pentru editori:

Gold for Romanian Gimnast Marian Dragulescu

LONDON, Oct 18 (Reuters) - Marian Dragulescu won his eighth world title on Sunday when he soared to victory in the vault but the Romanian would trade the medal in for the Olympic gold that has so far eluded him.

Dragulescu was fourth in the vault at last year's Beijing Games after falling on the landing of his second effort and seventh in the floor exercise.

"Of course," Dragulescu told reporters when asked if he would swap the gold around his neck for an Olympic title.

"But maybe next time, you never know," added the 28-year-old, who also won gold in the floor exercise at the world championships in London's O2 Arena.

Dragulescu's double gold was a remarkable achievement for a gymnast who retired after the Olympics because of back and neck problems and only returned to training in May.

"After eight months I was feeling good. I did some work and it was okay so I said 'why not (come back)?'," he said.

Dragulescu, who delighted the crowd in the final by performing the spectacular vault named after him, beat compatriot Flavius Koczi. Russian Anton Golotsutskov took the bronze.

"I'm pleased -- and tired," said Dragulescu, who won his first world titles back in 2001. "I worked a lot and I'm glad because my work ended up with a medal.

"Each medal I win is more difficult to win because it's very difficult to stay at that level at the top."

Asked when he would consider retirement again, Dragulescu said: "It depends on my health but at the moment I'm very good."

Dragulescu tumbles to glory on floor exercise

The 28-year-old tumbled to glory with a score of 15.700 after performing a series of complex twists and soaring somersaults.

He eclipsed China's Zou by 0.025.

Israel's Alexander Shatilov was awarded the bronze with 15.575.

The Romanian gave the fans the thumbs up as he stepped on top of the podium to receive his fourth gold medal on the floor.

"Every time it's harder so every time you win another one it's more difficult, the work is twice or three times more so I'm very satisfied," Dragulescu told reporters.

Apart from Dragulescu, no one else on the day had the talent or the belief to stop the Chinese.

• Tales from the Golden Age
Romania / 2009 / 131 mins / Romanian with English subtitles
Directed by: Cristian Mungiu (Palme d’Or, Cannes 2007), Ioana Uricaru, Hanno Höfer, Constantin Popescu

“Absurd, hilarious, poignant and curiously affectionate. One of the Top 10 films from Cannes 2009” (Wendy Ide, The Times)

Conceived and scripted by Palme d’Or winner Cristian Mungiu, ‘Tales from the Golden Age’ is a funny, poignant and surreal portrait of 1980s Romania. Shot with tremendous style and spirit, the film brilliantly re-captures the mood of an era where undertones of fear, corruption and imprisonment where never far away and where the humour of ordinary citizens played a vital role in facing up to the idiotic logic of the dictatorship. To warm and often hilarious effect, Cristian Mungiu combines several urban legends to portray a time during which food was more important than money, freedom more important than love and survival more important than principles. As he does so, he subtly and comically unseats the propagandist myth that Ceausescu’s leadership brought the “golden age” of Romania.
